Good job to all the riders and volunteers out on Sunday. A good day was had by all. The track was a challenge to all riders of all abilities with some having trouble in the top and bottom sections and others suffering on the famous ‘pedal section’. DRCC had some good results with Hayden Lester and Damien Bogatek both getting top tens 7th and 8th respectively. Our 4x star Richo Levinson just missed out but broke into the finals and finishing 12th. Silvio Simoes got on top with a win in the masters and Arron Shillington came 10th in the very competitive 17’s class. Brodie Chapman took on her first race and the first for the club in the women’s category. While ‘Party’ Pat Egan got 4th only missing the podium by less than 0.5 of a second. Thanks to all the people who put in time to help build the track or run the race. There will be photos up in the next day or so.

DRCC is hosting Round 2 of the Sunshine Series 2008 race to be held at the Club venue, 470 Raaen Road, D’Aguilar on Sunday 9th March 2008. Several club members have spent the past few weekends working on the track to ensure that it is in great shape for the race and I am happy to report that riders of all levels will find our track ‘challenging’ to say the least! Club members are encouraged to attend either as riders or event crew as there are many tasks to be undertaken on the day including registration, cooking and marshalling duties. We need members to be at the track site by no later than 6.30am as Registration commences at 7am.

Calling all riders who enjoy the trails at Gaps Creek – come help the track fairies maintain and extend the track network.

Meet 7:30am at Curlew Circuit on the following dates to help out:

• July 5

• September 6
• October 4
• November 1

The Twin Peaks Downhill event conducted on Sunday 23 September 2007 provided a great opportunity for members to gain much needed practice prior to the forthcoming National Series round 2. DRCC was well represented by Hayden Lester, Ben Power and Brandon Yrttiaho who all featured in podium finishes – well done guys!! The event was conducted under ideal conditions given the courses were easily accessed as a result of recent fires. An overnight shower on Saturday night provided the necessary moisture to keep dust to a minimum and the track’s firm for the major part of the day. All competitors practised and raced Track 1 (fast and open) during the morning session and then Track 2 (rocky and technical) in the afternoon session. Final results for the competition were achieved by adding the times of both tracks. DRCC featured as follows:

• Senior Hardtail – Hayden Lester (1st place)
• Junior Men – Under 17 years – Brandon Yrttiaho (1st place) & Ben Power (3rd place).
