Well the Silly Season is upon us already and it’s time to do something silly again, so here are the details for the 2011 DRCC Club Christmas Social Ride:

Sunday December 11th
Mt Joyce Shoreline Trail
7:45am, for 8am Departure at Western Trailhead by shuttle vehicle to Eastern Trailhead
8:15am Departure from Eastern Trailhead – “Social Group”
8:30am Departure from Eastern Trailhead – “Fast Group”
25km – Social Group (Ride led by Eric Sibly)
35km – Fast Group (Ride led by Hayden Lester)
Rendezvous at Western Trailhead ~11am for BBQ, Coffee, Drinks, Christmas Cheer, supplied by DRCC.

Each year, we award a peer-voted Club Champion Trophy. The award is given based on the following criteria:

Racing Results and Attendence
Club Volunteering
Social Ride Attendence
Contribution to Club Activiites
Trail Care Initiatives
Other Activities that promote MTB and DRCC.

DRCC a Finalist in QORF Awards

DRCC is a Finalist at the Annual QORF Awards (Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation) for it’s KWT Maxxis Sunshine Series Downhill Event at Hennessey Hill, Beerburrum. The club is a finalist in The Brisbane City Council Outdoor Event Award – which recognises the achievements of and indiviual / organisation / committee that has undertaken the development and management of a ‘significant’ outdoor recreation event in Queenlsand.

The club was recognised for the award after liasing with Sunshine Coast Regional Council in the opening and ceremonial aspects of the event. The event acted as Round 3 of the KWT Maxxis Sunshine Series, but also the official opening of the new Hennessey Hill Downhill Mountain Bike Track by Cr Debbie Blumel.

Sunshine Coast Regional Council are also finalists in the QORF Awards for their development of the Outdoor Recreation Maps, including where to Bushwalk, Mountain Bike and the forthcoming Horse Ride.

Annual General Meeting and Special Meeting

The club will have a Special Meeting this Thursday night at 7:30pm, Bardon Bowls Club to discuss the progress and outstanding requirements for the upcoming State Championships on October 8-9. As the event is under a fortnight away, this will be an important meeting for all members to attend.

Our AGM is scheduled for October 6 at 7:30pm, Bardon Bowls Club, and will be a final chance to tick off items for the Champs, although not part of the formalities of the evening. If you wish to nominate to the committee for 2011/12, please fill out the nomination form available below. Proxy voting will be available once the nominees are announced and are to be presented at the AGM.

KWT Maxxis 4hr Sunshine Series Results

Round 1 of the 4hr series kicked off at Samford yesterday. The weather held out and Clint Pearce rode strongly to the Solo Men’s victory coming home almost a lap in front of Richard Lucas and Michael Illing. In the pairs, Team Ay-Up Elite brought it home in front of their team-mates Team Ay-Up who had a sprint finish with Team Specialized.
